KSS Indigenous Inquiry Project - An Outdoor Classroom

The KSS Truth and Reconciliation Advisory Committee has created an Outdoor Classroom design that has been proposed for construction on our school field between the school and the basketball courts. Please donate here.

The purpose of the project is to bridge all students with the land, honour local Indigenous teachings, create a welcoming outdoor gathering space, and partner with people interested in being a part of Reconciliation. This will be a space that emphasizes the use and celebration of Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

Students involved have worked on designs to create a space that reflects values of respecting the land, learning outside, storytelling, and many cross-curricular initiatives. The space is also meant to be inclusive, accessible, welcoming, versatile, and safe.
