Instructor and Red Seal Mechanic  
Program Costs:  TBA- include cleaning and rental of coveralls, instructional materials and ITA required booklets, textbook rentals and general shop supplies. This can be paid in up to 3 installments
 
Automotive Service Technicians examine, test and repair the parts and systems on cars and light trucks.  Automotive Service Technician is a nationally designated trade under the Inter-provincial Red Seal program.  They often use computerized diagnostic equipment to test, adjust and repair key vehicle components such as engines, steering systems, braking systems, drive trains, vehicle suspensions and electrical systems.  The work of an Automotive Service Technician also involves reassembling and testing repaired items against manufacturers' standards, as well as performing preventative maintenance such as wheel alignments, oil changes and tune-ups.

  •     Discussion with Instructor

  •     ITA Essential Skills Assessment
Timeline:
Grade 11: 
  •   Inquiry, Program Shadow and Application completed by spring break.
  •   Make sure all grade 11 grad requirements are met.
  •   Select Auto 12 along with grade 12 required courses.
  •   If accepted into program, down payment due by the end of September.
Grade 12:
  •   Maintain good standing with respect to attendance and marks.
  •   Grade 12 grad requirements complete by January 16, 2016
  •   Pay remaining AST fees
  •   Buy steel toed boots
February – June
  •   Regular attendance in the ITA Youth Train Program in the Auto Shop all day everyday.
  •   Pay grad fees
  •   Complete a one day a week placement for 10 weeks
